„I have recently reviewed and evaluated a tobacco use prevention video that I would like to tell you about, „The Truth about Tobacco,“ which features Patrick Reynolds. He is a grandson of RJ Reynolds, and a renowned tobacco prevention speaker at schools throughout the nation. „This video, which shows a live talk to high school students by Mr. Reynolds, is a compelling and honest overview of the health problems caused by tobacco.

The video is an excellent fit with our high school unit on tobacco, alcohol and other drugs. It meets all of our factual information objectives on tobacco use.„It is the best and most up-to-date video on the topic of teen and adult tobacco use. It has no weaknesses. In my opinion, after viewing many similar videos, it is the best video available.

 „As a result of our review and evaluation, we are purchasing this video for all of our high schools. We are also thinking of bringing Patrick Reynolds in to speak to our students ‚live‘ and are now exploring getting sponsorship through the local County health department and/or our local hospitals. Evidently hospitals like cosponsoring, because he gets good local media coverage, which builds goodwill for them. I feel so positive about this program that I wanted to share this information with you.“

Individuelle Sitzergonomie für Frauen und Männer

Interview mit Gernot-M. Steifensand.

Die Anatomie kennt keine Gleichberechtigung der Geschlechter. Was die kleinen Unterschiede im Alltag des sitzenden Menschen ausmachen, darüber sprach Chefredakteur Rolf Albrecht mit dem Hersteller Gernot-M. Steifensand. Hier eine Kurzfassung:

www.ed-pro.de: Herr Steifensand, die ergonomische Familientradition reicht bei Ihnen vom Bandscheibendrehstuhl bis zu den neuen Konzepten für Frauen- und Männer-Stühle. Wie weit reichen die Ideen zurück?

Gernot-M. Steifensand: Die Idee und Notwendigkeit zu individuell passenden Stühlen – und deren Weiterentwicklung jetzt auch zu Frauen- und Männer-Stühlen – reicht schon bis in die Antike zurück. Schon die Königin Nofretete saß ca. 1300 v. Chr. mit einem Rundrücken auf einem Bandscheibensitz, auch Keilsitz genannt. Der Bandscheibendrehstuhl moderner Bauart war die bekannteste Entwicklung aus dem früheren Betrieb meiner Eltern.

www.ed-pro.de: Jedem Menschen seinen Maß-Stuhl zu bauen ist mit wirtschaftlicher Produktion kaum zu vereinbaren. Wie kann man die wichtigsten anatomischen Unterschiede differenziert anbieten (Rundrücken, Hohlkreuz, etc)?

Gernot-M. Steifensand: Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit verschiedenen Arbeitsmedizinern und der intensiven Beschäftigung mit der menschlichen Anatomie konnten wir verschiedene Formen von Sitzen und Rückenlehnen entwickeln, welche die anatomischen Unterschiede berücksichtigen. Durch die Kombinationsmöglichkeiten der Baugruppen können wir diese Unterschiede individuell umsetzen.

Gesund im Büro

Wieso sitzen Männer und Frauen auf den gleichen Bürostühlen?

Wir verbringen etwa die Hälfte des Tages am Arbeitsplatz, Tendenz steigend. Und das fast ausschließlich sitzend.

Ja, wir sind eine sitzende Gesellschaft. Dennoch sitzen wir auf Bürostühlen, die dieser extremen Dauerbelastung nicht richtig angepasst sind. Unabhängig von Größe, Gewicht und den – nicht gerade zu vernachlässigenden – anatomischen Unterschieden werden die natürlichen, medizinischen Unterschiede zwischen Mann und Frau beim Sitzen im Büro nicht berücksichtigt.

Und das bei bis zu 80.000 Stunden, die der Mensch in seinem Arbeitsleben durchschnittlich im Büro verbringt.

Erster Bürostuhl für Frauen

Die Geschichte der Bürositzmöbelfabrik 1 000 Stühle Gernot-M. Steifensand GmbH mit Sitz in Wendelstein begann nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, als der Vater des Firmeninhabers, F.-Martin Steifensand, mit Klappstühlen und einfachen Sitzlösungen von Haustür zu Haustür zog, um seine Stühle anzubieten.
